Super event tracking is coming!

ArenaNet is developing and releasing much more fancy API's for a ton of in-game information, meaning that people will be able to get extensive data from the game in real time. This means that the community will be able to build much more sophisticated trackers and databases for useful in-game information.

One that jumped out at me right off the bat is the event API... ArenaNet is exposing the information for dynamic events!

Check out this website for an idea of what will be possible. Obviously this will get much more complex and useful as people continue to develop in more goodness...but already it shows a complete map of all the world boss events and their current status (real time) for every server in the game -

You'll notice that it shows the event timers, plus for the currently active events, it actually shows the state or phase in which the event is currently running! It also has checkmarks you can click to keep track of which events you've completed for the day.

How cool is that. The developer will be adding many additional features, like copy/paste-able links to the nearest waypoint, and many other goodies. He's working hard on it right now, and I'm sure many other people are also developing sites.

I'm sure mobile apps that do all kinds of things will be developed pretty quickly, too. Very cool.

They will be adding much more...it will show swords just like the in-game map, plus I think it will end up showing the guild name for each objective that is claimed and other fun stuff like that.

From the times I've tested, it seems to work. Awesome.

OMG. This site (gw2state) now shows real-time event maps for every zone (where you can mouse over currently active events and see where they are on the map), and it has a boss notifier that keeps track of all world bosses and can give you audio notification when they are up.

That site makes me happy.
